COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Course Description: The Music course is tailored to nurture musical talents and provide a comprehensive understanding of the music industry. Students will learn music theory, composition, performance, and music business essentials.

Course Duration:

  • One Year Incubation Programme

  • Schedule:

    • Weekdays: 3 days per week (after school)

    • Weekends: 2 weekends per month

    • School Holidays: Intensive workshops and projects

Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate in Music and Sound. Top-performing students will have the opportunity to travel abroad or participate in internships with music industry professionals.

Music

  • Music Producer: Oversee and manage the recording and production of music tracks, working with artists to create polished final products.

  • Sound Engineer: Operate and manage sound recording, mixing, and production equipment for live performances and studio recordings.

  • Musician/Performer: Perform music as a solo artist or as part of a group, in various venues and settings.

  • Music Teacher: Educate students in music theory, performance, and production, inspiring the next generation of musicians.

  • Music Business Manager: Handle the business aspects of music careers, including marketing, contracts, and event management.

  • Composer/Songwriter: Create original music compositions and lyrics for artists, films, and media projects.

  • Independent Artist: Build a career as an independent musician, producing, distributing, and promoting your own music.

  • Music YouTuber: Create music-related content, such as tutorials, performances, and reviews, to engage with audiences and generate income through YouTube.

Music Business

  1. Artist Manager: Represent and manage the careers of musicians, handling negotiations, promotions, and bookings.

  2. Music Promoter: Organize and promote live music events, concerts, and festivals, ensuring successful performances and high attendance.

  3. Record Label Executive: Oversee the operations of a record label, from signing new artists to marketing and distributing music.

  4. Music Licensing Specialist: Manage the licensing of music for use in films, TV, advertisements, and other media.

  5. A&R (Artists and Repertoire) Representative: Scout and develop new music talent, guiding artists through recording and marketing processes.

  6. Tour Manager: Coordinate and manage all aspects of an artist’s tour, from logistics to marketing and budgeting.

  7. Independent Music Consultant: Offer services such as artist development, marketing strategy, and career advice to up-and-coming musicians.

  8. Music Business YouTuber: Share insights on the music industry, marketing strategies, and artist development on YouTube, building a following and generating income.

Entry Requirements for the Music & Sound Course

  1. Age and Grade Level:

    • Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 21.

    • Must be currently enrolled in grades 9-12.

  2. Musical Background:

    • Demonstrable passion for music.

    • Basic proficiency in at least one musical instrument or vocal performance.

  3. Application Materials:

    • A completed application form.

    • A motivational video clip (up to 5 minutes) explaining why you deserve a spot in the academy and detailing your musical background and aspirations.

    • A portfolio of previous musical work (optional but recommended).

  4. Academic Performance:

    • Satisfactory academic performance in current school subjects.

    • Recent school transcripts or report cards.

  5. Personal Statement:

    • A written essay (500 words) describing your interest in music, your goals, and how the Music Course at LGL Academy will help you achieve them.

  6. Letters of Recommendation:

    • Two letters of recommendation from music teachers, mentors, or other professionals familiar with your musical abilities and dedication.

  7. Interview:

    • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview (in-person or virtual) to further assess their passion, commitment, and suitability for the program.

  8. Audition:

    • Applicants may be required to perform a piece of their choice during the interview or submit a recorded performance.

  9. Commitment:

    • Willingness to commit to attending the after-school programme three days per week, two weekends per month, and during school holidays for the duration of one year.
